How to get endorsed for arXiv

arXiv's endorsement system exists to keep the moderation queue tractable — not to gatekeep. Most first-time submitters just don't know how it works. This is the short version.

What endorsement is

arXiv requires a first-time submitter to a category to be endorsed by someone who has already published there. Endorsement is not peer review — the endorser is vouching that your paper is topically appropriate and technically coherent enough to warrant a moderator’s time, not that it’s correct or novel.
